As part of our annual spiritual and community outreach tradition, the North East Rwanda Field (NERF) joined the global Seventh-day Adventist Church family in commemorating World Pathfinder Day 2025, which normally takes place on the 3rd Sabbath of the month of September this year on September 20, 2025. The celebration took place at NERF’s different Mission Stations, and in preparation for this important occasion, several community service and stewardship activities were carried out ahead of the main event.
On the Sabbath of the event, the celebration took place at four sites Gakoni, Nyagatare, Rukomo, and Bugaragara due to the temporary closure of some churches. Additional follow-up activities were also conducted after the day’s program.
Prior to the celebration, Pathfinders and leaders engaged in various acts of kindness, including tree planting (environmental stewardship), assisting vulnerable families through house repairs, providing Mutuelle de Santé (community health insurance), and other missionary outreach activities.
During the main Sabbath program, each site conducted a colorful and spirit-filled celebration featuring Pathfinder songs, parades, cake-cutting, devotional messages, and the investiture (induction) of new Pathfinders into their respective classes.
Following the worship program, participants extended their mission outreach by visiting hospital patients, conducting an anti–drug abuse awareness march at the Kagitumba border, and donating food and clothing to the less fortunate.
Below is a summary of the contributions and support rendered across various stations:
- Bugaragara Station: Donated clothing and food items valued at 554,480 RWF.
- Nyagatare Station: Sponsored Mutuelle de Santé for 67 individuals, amounting to 201,000 RWF.
- Rwagitima Station: Planted trees and renovated houses for needy families, with a total estimated value of 190,000 RWF.
- Rukomo Station: Raised 300,000 RWF to support a forthcoming hospital visitation ministry to Gatunda Hospital, after securing permission for access.
Total value of Community Service initiatives: 1,237,450 RWF.
These activities not only demonstrated the Pathfinders’ commitment to the Adventist philosophy of “serving God and humanity” but also strengthened the spirit of unity and service within our Field. We praise God for His sustaining grace and the dedication of all Pathfinders, leaders, and supporters who made this event a success.
